How to Use

PLANTING GRASS SEED OR SOD FOR NEW LAWNS OR REPAIRING BARE SPOTS:

1. Soil preparation is the most crucial step in getting ready' to plant new grass from seed or sod. For repairing bare spots in existing lawns, remove all weeds, dead grass and thatch from intended seeding area. For new lawns, clear all weeds, debris and stones from planting site and smooth soil with metal rake or roller, eliminating any depressions.

2. Loosen top 1 inch layer of native soil with a metal rake. ;

3. Add 1 inch layer of Sta-Green Seed & Sod Starter Soil and spread evenly over intended planting area. (See coverage chart for proper application.) Using garden tool, thoroughly mix existing soil with Sta-Creen Seed & Sod Starter Soil.

4. Apply a quality grass seed according to label instructions and gently rake seed into top layer of soil. If laying sod, keep area an inch below grade so the new grass will be level with the lawn. Cut sod to conform to the repair site, ensuring that no gaps exist between pieces. Firmly walk on new sod to settle it into place.

5. After seeding, spread 1/8 inch layer of Sta-Green Seed & Sod Starter Soil over the seed.

6. Provide light, frequent watering to keep the top inch of soil moist. Continue to water as needed to keep seeds or sod moist. Once seed germinates, water less frequently, but allow for deeper soaking and penetration into the soil. Begin cutting the grass once it exceeds 3 inches.
